CMS ANNOUNCES PROPOSED CHANGES TO 2010 IPPS
Overall, a 2.1% annual inflation rate will be applied, though a 1.9% decrease will also be implemented in order to counteract the “upcoding” practices of hospitals.
Though changes for this year are relatively minor, hospitals should evaluate the aftermath of changes from the last two years, while also preparing for more significant payment decreases in 2011 and 2012.
