CORAZON HOSTS FIESTA FOR HEART CAMP
New Book Benefits Program
June 16, 2003 - Pittsburgh, PA—In April, Corazon Consulting, a Pittsburgh-based cardiovascular consulting firm, published its first book, Getting the Heart of It: Proven Strategies to Bypass the Competition in Cardiovascular Services for the cardiovascular care industry – the first resource of its kind that assists healthcare leaders and physicians in positioning their cardiovascular programs for future success. While the book has met with critical acclaim nationwide, it also has a higher purpose – a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this book are being donated to “Heart Camp” – an outstanding Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh tradition at Camp Kon-O-Kwee near Zelienople , PA that affords a special place in the outdoors for children with heart disease.
Heart Camp is an annual four-day overnight camping adventure designed specifically for children ages 8-15 who have some form of heart disease. The program, which began in 1991, provides campers with a traditional, though medically supervised, environmental learning experience with other children facing similar health concerns.
The Heart Experts at Corazon delivered a Mexican-themed fiesta near the lake, complete with activities, snacks, and prizes which helped to make the day special, not only for the children of Heart Camp, but for the Corazon team as well. “Corazon is privileged to participate in this outstanding program,” said Jacquelyn Muller, Vice President of Marketing. “It is a wonderful opportunity for young heart patients to forge friendships and share a common bond with older heart patients who can serve as role models, and provide support and encouragement for their health challenges. Dr. William Neches, camp founder, and all the volunteer doctors and nurses and camp support staff make an invaluable contribution to the quality of life for these children, and many alumni of the program return year after year to support its mission.”
Corazon Consulting is honored to be associated with supporting the mission of Heart Camp to improve the lives of these very special children who suffer from heart disease through community service to the program and the sale of its new book.
