CORAZON “ GOES RED” AS PART OF NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE AWARENSS OF
HEART DISEASE IN WOMEN

Pittsburgh, PA — February 2, 2007 Corazon, Inc., a national leader in providing specialized consulting and recruitment services to hospitals for the development of heart and vascular programs, today will celebrate national “Wear Red for Women Day.” This initiative of the American Heart Association works to raise awareness of the Number 1 killer of women — heart disease — by encouraging people across the country to wear RED in recognition of this serious threat to women’s health.

On National Wear Red Day, people and places across the country "GO RED" in order to motivate women to take charge of their cardiovascular health. Major landmarks and national monuments, such as the Seattle Space Needle, Graceland , Niagara Falls , the Washington Monument , and  Times Square will be illuminated in red light with employees wearing red to raise awareness of this serious problem that claims the lives of over 500,000 women annually—that’s more than the next seven causes of death combined.

Corazon COO and President Karen Hartman states, “as members of the healthcare community, we have the opportunity to spread the word to our colleagues in the industry, along with our own friends and families. Wearing red, and explaining the purpose of National Wear Red Day, brings the significance of the risk of cardiovascular disease in women to the forefront.”

As Corazon evaluates and develops cardiac and vascular programs across the country, they encourage program leaders to give added attention to the prevalence of heart disease in women, typically an underserved population for this condition. In fact, the increasing numbers of Women’s Heart Centers gives testament to how the industry is responding to the need for care, outreach, and treatment services targeted specifically at women.
