"Resident Named One of Best Women in Business "
by: Andrea L. Zrimsek

Being recognized among your peers for your hard work and dedication is something many never experience. But it is becoming old hat to Jackie Johnson, founder and CEO of Corazon Consulting in Ross Township.

Since beginning this venture in 2001, Corazon has been named one of Pittsburgh's 100 fasting growing companies by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2004, and Johnson was awarded an Ernst and Young Emerging Entrepre-neur of the Year Award in 2003 and a Rising Star award by the Pittsburgh CLO association in 2004.

And now Johnson, a Marshall Township resident, has been named one of the 50 Best Women in Business in Pennsylvania by the Central Penn Business Journal and the office of the governor.

"I was stunned when I found out," Johnson says. "It's such an honor."

But she does not take all of the credit for this achievement. Johnson says if her staff did not work as hard as they do to promote Corazon nationwide, it would not be where it is today.

Corazon Consulting provides a full spectrum of consulting services from feasibility studies and business planning through clinical readiness and all facets of a successful implementation.

The staff of 22 works with cardiovascular programs all over the country and even abroad. Recently Corazon even helped Ohio State University put its heart hospital together.

"Heart programs impact the entire hospital," she says. They can bring in up to 40 percent of revenue and influence the overall care delivery.

Before founding Corazon, Johnson spent two decades in the healthcare industry.

She began her career as a nurse and then moved to the position of executive director for Mercy Heart Institute at Mercy Hospital where she developed and implemented strategic plans for the cardiovascular program.

She then began sharing her knowledge of cardiac care through consulting at JJ Consulting and Health Care Visions Ltd. before starting Corazon Consulting.

Johnson was selected from hundreds of other professional women to earn a spot on the coveted 10th annual list. And she is one of only 17 women in Western Pennsylvania to make the cut.

For her efforts, she will attend an awards ceremony and dinner at the governor's mansion in Harrisburg later this month.
